I did it, I’m finally in London. I still find it hard to believe that I actually made it, that I am indeed in England. I’m still waiting to wake up and to learn that it was all a dream. I feel so incredibly lucky to be here. I also feel incredibly lucky to have survived 9 days so far without being hit by a car.
Classes are off to a great start. My professors all seem pretty cool. The workload is manageable. It seems to be about the same as what I was assigned in my undergrad. It’s only the end of week 2, but I have managed to do all of the assigned readings both required and optional. I’m pretty proud of myself for this, I think I’ve started the year off on the right foot as far as establishing a routine. I have to give my first presentation in week 4 and I’m pretty excited for it. So yeah, classes are great. I am really happy to be back in class and learning. So much so that I’m fairly certain I spent all of my in class hours grinning because I was so happy. I’m a nerd I know, that’s why you love me.
I haven’t explored too much of the city yet, what with classes and getting settled and all. I’ve been spending a lot of time in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. They are awesome places to study. The weather has been really nice so I’m trying to take advantage of that. I have lots of pictures coming soon, fyi. I took a trip to Notting Hill on Monday. I checked out the Portobello Market, which was a little lackluster with it being a Monday and all. I am proud of myself because I didn’t get lost. I think I’m going to go back on Sunday to check out the goods and take pictures of all the things that were in Notting Hill the movie (if you haven’t seen it yet go do that now, this blog will still be here when you get back). Speaking of things in movies, tomorrow (Saturday) I’m going to attempt a Harry Potter walking tour. I got the directions from this site. They say it’s doable in one day if you plan on a 10-4 time frame. That’s right this is a six hour walking tour. I’ll let you know how it goes.
